Festival Voices of Friends: Poetry & Art - 2024

September 15-18, 2024. Borovoe Resort, Burabai National Park, Kazakhstan.

In 2021, we launched a project full of high aesthetics and emotional expressiveness – the Poetry and Visual Arts Festival. The idea of the festival was inspired by the desire of creative figures to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of beauty in order to get a sip of inspiration amid the severe events of the pandemic. This idea does not lose its relevance even now, when a lot of depressing things are happening in the world. You can also weave your voice in unison with the voices of your friends. The festival takes place annually in the most beautiful place – the national park and the resort of Burabai (northern Kazakhstan).

The festival includes both the actual film screening and master classes from acting directors, screenwriters and other film industry experts.

Previous editions of our collection have already made history. Thus, the sixth volume was officially accepted into the library of Buckingham Palace and received a personal letter of thanks from King Charles III.

The eighth volume of the collection “Thread” in 2024 will be dedicated to the anniversary of the great world classic Leo Tolstoy. His humanistic ideas are more relevant than ever in the modern world.

Non-competitive participation. The placement of the work takes place on general terms, to participate, you must click on the “Become an author” button below.

Participation in the “Open Eurasia” competition. It is made through the contest website. You do not need to fill out the form using the button below.

Placement of the works of the winners of the competition from the Expert Council on Fiction. This is an internal competition only for current members of the Expert Council. Three winners receive one spread (two pages) as a prize.

The advantage of the placed works will be the ability to:

  • to convey through the artistic word the unified spirit of the peoples of Eurasia, once united by one common cultural space – the countries of the former USSR;
  • to support the continuity of generations — along with the works of recognized masters of the word, the works of young authors are published;
  • to promote the cultural mutual enrichment of young writers, the formation of respect for the history and present of other countries.

The theme of the collection’s works is traditional — common themes inherent in the work of the Eurasian peoples: love for their native land, nature and art, reverence for the memory of their ancestors, philosophy of perception of the surrounding reality, history, traditions of the peoples of Eurasia, military themes, memory of the great feat of the people.

  • The average volume of works is recommended to be up to 100 lines (approximately 500-800 words)*. The maximum volume is up to 7,000 words;
  • it is necessary to provide a photo and brief information about the author (no more than 100 words);
  • The cost of publishing 1 page is 45 pounds

    The special cost of the 1–page edition is 33.75 pounds (25% discount for GUILD members only)

    For early registration before December 31, 2023, an additional 10% discount, that is, the cost of the publication will be 40.5 pounds or 29.25 pounds (35% discount only for GUILD members);

  • for works in all languages except Russian, a translation is required (can be ordered from the translators of Hertfordshire Press). For texts in Russian (including translations made by non-translators of the publishing house), we strongly recommend ordering an editing service in order to show your work from the best side;
  • An electronic copy of the collection is provided to the author free of charge. It is possible to order a hard copy with postal delivery, the cost is calculated separately.

Poetry and Visual Arts Almanac "Voices of Friends: Poetry & Art", 2025 (to be published at the end of 2024)

The visual and poetic Almanac “Voices of Friends: Poetry and Art” – the world’s only collection of Eurasian poetry in English and national languages — was initiated by the Eurasian Creative Guild (London) in 2020. This is a truly international collection, which contains poems by poets of various nationalities and eras. Some of them are written in the original language, be it Armenian or Italian, Spanish or Kyrgyz. But most of them are also translated into English or Russian in order to reach and engage as many readers as possible. This almanac provoked a great response from poetry connoisseurs and high interest among the academic community of researchers and universities, who for the first time gained access to a unique ontology of Eurasian poetry and fine art from different eras (including the works of contemporaries).

Poetry is so deeply ingrained in the human soul that it is part of every culture, making readers laugh, cry, feel anger, feel love — to feel our deep human connection. Poetry unites each of us in a very special way.

The peculiarity of the collection lies in its format. The convenient structure of the diary (glider) demonstrates not only the favorite classical works and poems of contemporaries, as well as paintings by contemporary artists on each calendar day, but also includes a calendar with fields for notes at the end of each week.

Today, tourism and migration have become a part of modern human life. And, since according to the laws of economics, where people are, there are finances and other resources, the ability of a city, region, and even an entire country to attract and retain tourists, investors, businesses, a working population, etc. comes to the fore. Therefore, in 2024, OCA Magazine will publish a special issue of OCA Creativity & Tourism Expertise, which will combine exclusive articles from the largest operators and representatives of the tourism sector and experts in the creative industries.

The pandemic, international political relations, the development of technology and the availability of online entertainment have significantly changed the face of the modern consumer, as well as increased attention to ecology, self-development and social processes. The economy of impressions, “green tourism”, the influence of influencers and other issues, largely related to the marketing of territories and the development of creative media, are an excellent field for discussion and search for effective solutions in the field of economic development. And creative industries have been declared a priority of economic development by a number of Central Asian countries, and today most of the cost-effective products are generated precisely in the field of intellectual products. Thus, the share of UK GDP generated by music, films, books and many other creative objects exceeds the entire GDP of most Central Asian countries.

For more than 20 years we have been working with the largest representatives of the tourism and creative sectors in 73 countries of the world, organizing and conducting expert events. Participation in resident programs

Any creative person needs a “picture change” in order to get a boost of inspiration, and a little freedom from stuck life in order to concentrate on creating their masterpiece.

The Eurasian Creative Guild (London) opens the acceptance of applications for resident programs for the 1st half of 2024. We invite writers, artists, photographers, musicians and other creative professionals.

We studied the examples of many creative residencies around the world and were inspired by their example. We do not provide grants for our resident programs (yet), but we will be happy to provide an invitation if you apply for sponsorship yourself.

The programs are designed for the participation of one person, the opportunity to go on a creative journey with a companion is discussed separately.

Our first special creative residence ECG HORIZONS Burabay is located in the most picturesque place of the Burabay National Park – in the legendary resort area Borovoe. Our guests can enjoy both sanatorium and urban infrastructure (the cottage is located on the border of the city of Shchuchinsk), untouched nature – forests, lakes, rocks and hills, museums, temples and other attractions are available, the capital Astana with an international airport, car and railway stations is a three-hour drive away by car on the expressway, there is also a railway connection. For citizens of many countries, a visa-free regime is valid for 30 days – and this is a big plus!

There is an active creative cluster of Guild members in the city of Shchuchinsk, which will be able to provide support and advice on various issues. If you value privacy, then the residence is located 100 meters from the forest edge, a five-minute walk there is a small pond Barmashino for the promenade, a half-hour walk away there is a walking and cycling path of the Rixos hotel in free access.

The residence has an equipped kitchen, a shared bathroom and two bathrooms, guests are provided with a hairdryer, iron, washing machine, ironing board, dryer, towels for the period of stay. There is a lawn with a campfire area (it can be used as a barbecue strictly in agreement with the general manager of the residence).

The cost of the program starts from 650 British pounds.

The program price includes:

  • a written invitation to participate in the program, if necessary (usually an administrative fee of 10 pounds is charged for the preparation of such letters, but such a letter is provided free of charge to residents)
  • an installation session with the program curator (60 minutes), during which you will be able to determine the goals and objectives of the program, as well as get recommendations on how to achieve these goals (for example, which ECG members can help you on the spot, which places and events are worth visiting for inspiration or research, etc.)
  • one consultation with a supervisor (30 minutes) weekly if necessary
  • one consultation (1 hour) on a personal brand as a gift)))
  • one bed and a work desk in a separate guest room
  • Internet
  • computer if necessary (used by all guests of the residence in the library area)
  • library
  • coworking
  • The opportunity to hold a personal presentation of the results of the program within the framework of the Voices of Friends: Poetry & Art festival on September 15-18, 2024 when registering the status of an “Official participant” (the cost of participation outside the resident program is 450 pounds).

General rules of residency programs:

  1. The residency program is a period for creativity. It takes time to get a high-quality product and hold additional events, so we only consider applications for resident programs for at least 30 days!
  2. We are for a healthy lifestyle and promoting the image of a Creative Person as a standard of culture and a representative of the creative elite))) Therefore, the use of alcohol, narcotic substances and tobacco products (including vapes) in the premises provided to residents for living and work is STRICTLY PROHIBITED! Smoking is allowed in specially equipped places. Residents and any other third parties in a state of alcoholic, narcotic or toxic intoxication are also not allowed to stay in the provided premises. The fine is 500 pounds.
  3. We are always happy to recommend what to see, who to talk to and where to go, but we cannot arrange individual support or tourist trips or any other activities, because our small team works on many international projects, and we do not have such a resource. Therefore, each resident organizes leisure activities independently.

  4. Please note that utilities are charged separately in addition to the cost of the program. We do not know how much water and electricity you will need, so we will provide you with a utility bill before completing the program.

  5. We are always happy to create an opportunity for creative people to travel, but we do not have a separate person on staff who performs the functions of a travel agent or hotel administrator who would be responsible for the bureaucratic or organizational aspects of your trip. Therefore, please note in advance that we are not responsible for your passports and visas (the most we can do is prepare a visa invitation for you), we cannot book tickets or be responsible for flight cancellations, etc., but travel fees, taxes, etc. they are paid by residents themselves. We also do not resolve legal issues in case of claims from the law enforcement agencies of the destination country.
  6. We treat children positively and have been taking part in ECG since the age of 11, but a trip is a completely different matter. Our residences are designed for persons over the age of 18, and we strongly do not recommend programs for minors.
